Question Details

Answer

Often, the login on a database site isn't set up for library subscriptions like UMD's. Instead of logging in on that site, try using a proxied link from the UMD library database list. These will display the same login screen used for other UMD sites before displaying the database.

A few databases require you to set up a personal login in order to use the database (e.g., SciFinder).

If you are unable to log in to a database, email libaskus@d.umn.edu for assistance.

Ask a Librarian

Librarians help students, faculty, and staff with their research. You might reach out to a librarian when...

  • you’re not sure how to get started with a research project
  • you hit a wall in your research
  • your usual process isn't working for a particular project
  • you want to learn about new tools and strategies to aid your research
