Question Details

Her student research assistant had gone through 10,000 results on a very specific search but ProQuest doesn't allow users to view more than 10,000 results. This is a part of a systematic review.

Referred to the subject librarian for more discussion and librarian's consultation with librarians from the Twin Cities campus Systematic Review and Evidence Synthesis service.

Answer

The help feature in the database, PsycINFO - ProQuest, had this information under Search Results:
No matter how many results your search returns, the maximum number you can look at by paging through your search results is 10,000.

ProQuest recommends using filters to change the search, but that was not a good option here.

Ask a Librarian

Librarians help students, faculty, and staff with their research. You might reach out to a librarian when...

  • you’re not sure how to get started with a research project
  • you hit a wall in your research
  • your usual process isn't working for a particular project
  • you want to learn about new tools and strategies to aid your research
